Persons and families living with disability in East Africa are frequently stigmatized, discriminated against, abused, neglected, pushed aside, and sometimes even killed due to having a disability. The Mugisha’s are taking part in alleviating this and seeking to fulfill the Luke 14 mandate. The ultimate goal is for persons living with disability to experience dignity; fulfill their calling in life; use their spiritual gifts in and out of the church; be an active member in the body of Christ, their church, and community; and be a part of advancing the Gospel. Joni Eareckson Tada expresses that “disability ministry is not disability ministry until the disabled are ministering.” This is an anthem that the Mugisha’s live by.    

A and R Mugisha love the Lord with all their heart, soul, and mind. Both are Bible-believing, God-fearing, and born-again followers of Christ, who are seeking Jesus daily. A and R have been involved in ministry to unengaged and unreached individuals collectively for over 15 years in East Africa. A has been conducting disability ministry for over 15 years, and R has been a social worker for refugees for five years. Their compassion, calling, and love for Jesus and the vulnerable is how they first met and is what brought them together as husband and wife.

A and R have distinct and clear giftings, talents, and callings. A specializes in educating, training, and discipling various individuals for disability ministry and special education. R specializes in micro-business, finance, and vocational and social work. Together, A and R will continue to share the Gospel and mentor, train, disciple, and serve persons and families living with disability, pastors and church leaders, service providers, and young adults for disability ministry.
