Baur and Gulnar coming from traditional Muslim backgrounds, each of them walked a profound and tested path before finding true redemption in Jesus Christ.
Baur was raised in a large shepherd’s family in a rural village in Uzbekistan alongside eight siblings. Blessed with a creative artistic gift, he spent over two decades living and exhibiting his work in Moscow, traveling, and seeking purpose. At age 40, amidst deep personal trials, Baur experienced a life-transforming encounter with Christ. That marked the start of his walk of faith—diving into Scripture, serving the destitute on the streets, feeding the hungry, and using his practical gifts to care for those without a voice.
Gulnar grew up in Kazakhstan, where it took a two-year journey of seeking and examining faiths before she surrendered her life fully to Christ as Lord and Savior. Inspired by early missionary pioneers and convicted by Proverbs 24:11 (“Rescue those who are being led away to death”), she realized that genuine light and hope could only be found in Jesus. Leaving behind her career in government institutions and UN agencies, she completed cross-cultural missionary training and earned a Master’s degree from Talbot School of Theology (Biola University), committing her life to making Christ known among her people.
God brought Baur and Gulnar together in Kazakhstan, uniting their hearts, diverse backgrounds, and spiritual callings into one shared mission. Together, Baur and Gulnar actively serve across Kazakhstan and Central Asia through:
“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)
