Britton Wakefield is a pastor, church planter, husband, and father with a deep love for Hickory Hill—the Memphis community where he grew up and where God is now calling him to plant a healthy, gospel-centered, disciple-making church.

After several years of pastoral ministry at Fellowship Memphis—serving in roles ranging from Pastoral Resident and Campus Pastor to Teaching & Connections Pastor—Britton sensed God leading him back toward the community that helped shape his own story. Throughout his ministry, he has developed a particular passion for preaching God’s Word, building authentic relationships, making disciples, developing emerging leaders, and helping people move from merely attending church to actively following Jesus as they help others do the same.

Britton longs to see people transformed by the gospel, to equip and mobilize leaders, to strengthen neighborhoods, and to multiply passionate disciple-makers throughout Memphis.

At the heart of that vision is the conviction of John 15:1–8: lasting fruit comes from abiding in Jesus. Britton writes that his greatest desire is not first “to accomplish great things for Christ, but to remain faithfully connected to Christ.” That conviction shapes the kind of church he hopes to plant—a community deeply rooted in Jesus whose lives bear fruit that points others back to Him.

Britton and his wife, Marquita, are embracing this calling together while raising their two young sons, Britton II (“Deuce”) and Braylon. As they step faithfully into this new season, they are trusting God to gather a community of prayerful and financial partners who share their desire to see the gospel take deeper root in Hickory Hill and bear lasting fruit for generations to come.
