About

Nancy Jo Weigel

Nancy ‘s first ministry position began as she graduated from College and was recruited by Campus Crusade for Christ in their ministry to international students. She served for 5 years on the campuses at UCLA, the University of Washington and Cornell University.  She made the tough decision to leave Campus Crusade to go back to school herself.  She earned a Masters Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language which led to teaching assignments at the college and seminary levels.

During this time Nancy became involved in short-term mission trips into Japan and was recruited by Asian Access to help prepare short-term missionaries for Japan.  Her tenure with Asian Access lasted for 16 years and it was while involved with Asian Access that she joined the staff of Harvest Alliance.

Ever the student, she acquired a second Masters Degree in Intercultural Studies as well as a certificate in Christian Apologetics.  It was in this time period she became involved with the Jesus Film Project in Europe by participating in their Short Term mission outreaches.  When Asian Access reorganized and moved to the East Coast, Nancy was recruited to become a part of a Jesus Film Team where she has concentrated her ministry for the past 7 years.

On a personal level, she continues to reach out to internationals living around her; including students, immigrants and those she connects with through the Jesus Film.   With her skills in organization, she plans and oftentimes speaks at meetings and conferences which focus on educating and encouraging Christians to build friendships and share the Good News with those from many religious backgrounds who live in their communities.

Because of her strong belief in the work of the Jesus Film projects she keeps a stock of Jesus Film tools, including the DVDs and Jesus Film gift cards at her home so she has them on hand as she meets new people in her neighborhood and beyond. She has frequently hosted showings of the Jesus Film as well as other films created by the Jesus Film Project in her home; inviting both believers and not-yet-believers. Seeking every opportunity to introduce people to Jesus Christ, she invites Internationals and Americans for dinners at her home.

As Nancy has written:
These events have been well received, and have opened the door for good discussions.  In one case this led to the opportunity to show the Alpha Series (describing the basics of Christianity) to a Vietnamese Taoist woman.  Another time, a Chinese man who lives in my complex asked me to teach him about Christianity.  He was intrigued by the book he saw me carrying after one of my events -"Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus". We have met a number of times, studying and discussing the Bible. When I showed him the Jesus Film in Chinese he said it really helped him to understand more about the Bible.

Nancy has completed a number of international outreaches with the Jesus Film Project, especially to foreigners on vacation in Europe and to university students in Japan. These Jesus Film outreaches have been a great way to connect with people from a variety of nations who would otherwise be hard to reach with the Gospel message.

Much of Nancy’s work has been centered on promoting a project in North America where a number of Internationals and foreign speakers live.  The Jesus Film Team calls this “Reaching The Nations Among Us”.
